Abstract
Chorea is one of the major types of involuntary movement disorders originating from dysfunctional neuronal networks interconnecting the basal ganglia and frontal cortical motor areas. Hemichorea is often associated with structural lesions including ischemic stroke. A 63-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital to be evaluated for hemichorea on her left side that persisted for 2 weeks. Brain MRI and MRA revealed right middle cerebral artery(MCA) occlusion without acute ischemic lesion. Haloperidol diminished the monochoreic movement. We report hemichorea associated right MCA occlusion without stroke.
